OLS Podcast #3: Praise for Hazard and Music from Merlo Station

Filed under:Old Library Studio Podcast Episodes — posted by mrnoah on March 25, 2009 @ 4:15 pm

Noah and Kellen discuss the musical talents of middle schoolers, in response to a NY Times Freakonomics Blog Post entitled Kid Rock. The music of local middle schoolers Guerd and Keegan Alberts, AKA  “Praise for Hazard” is offered as a counter example to Stephen Dubner’s expectation that middle school rock bands are still “generally dreadful”, as they were when he was in middle school. Two recordings created by Merlo Station students, at Old Library Studio, are shared: ” Brick by Brick” featuring high schoolers Stephen Spencer, Coleman Baker, Zach Long, and their instructor John Stapleton. “Gypsy Jazz” by Coleman Baker with John Stapleton.
